January in Tassie
In early January I went to tassie to go to the Falls Festival with Leanne and a bunch of others. We had an excellent time, and as usual I went for a ride. This time it was Hobart to Launceston via the western tiers. It was hard riding over the mountains, and pretty darn miserable up there in the sleet in mid summer, but worth it for the 1000m descent through the clouds that took 20 minutes to roll down. Cruising through puffy white clouds, just like landing in a jet..
After I went to see the Styx forrests - Which your friends Gunns are still clear felling. Big big trees and pristine forrest being exported as woodchip for paper in Japan.. Think of that next time you use the 50 weight bond in the office or wipe your bum. Its your trees.
I also met Den and Brian O'Meally north of Launceston. I was their porter for a few days while they rode the east coast of Tas. We had fun - with red wine beer and nice views.
